Aims

In these pages you will find two training courses aimed to the growth of the soft skills. In particular we will consider:

Management of the conflict: Is the ability to accept that people who I work with have urgencies different from mine. In manuals it’s taught costructive dialogue targeted to the growth of both the parts through the match of the issues. That’s right as an asymptote is perfect, but in the real world emotions come to bring us to an unavoidable regression. This is due to the passion we put in the things we do.

Public speaking: It’s composed of two elements: organization of issues, use of voice. Each one of us has its own style when we prepare an exposition, some prefers to memorize the part, some others to follow the line of the speech so they can integrate intuitions. It’s basic to breathe, don’t eat words, tell them until the last letter, see what you’re talking about.

Humor: It’s not only the matter to make the right joke, but also to accept that somebody else can do that, allowing that’s possible to laugh and take little seriously. To have humor means to choice the right moment. In that moment I can go out from my daily role and take another point of view on me and my team. There I can recognize problems just because they made me laugh. At the end with a renewed awareness, we can also decide that it’s useful to appear grotesque, ridicoulous, odd.

Imagination: It’s the abilty to represent in our mind something that doesn’t exist. It’s very important in problem solving, when you have to consider opportunity far away from the beaten path. The curious thing is that we can find it in the same person either in stressy situations as in relaxed ones. In short we can train it but it’s not possible to subject it to a complete domain.

Awareness: Here i refer perticularly to the self awareness, that is the ability we have to be aware of the kind of inluence our behaviour has on other people.

Empathy: It’s the ability we have to tune in to others indipendently from the arguments we are talking about. It grows in a communication starting by all non verbal signals such as: metalanguage, posture, body movements, gaze.

Active listening: It means to listen without interpret neither judge who is talking with us. It’s not a simple task. because to go beyond the explicit meaning sometimes had been useful. But some other times, to be honest, it has just confuse us. To be aware of the mechanisms of interpretation and judgement it’s useful to know when to use them and when not.

Methods

Erving Goffman in a famous assay (“The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life”) explains how all of us have a own audience in front of which we have to get ready: sons, daughters, wife, husbands, colleagues, friends, parents, relatives

For them we come on stage hundreds of time daily, and we tend to prepare ourself with a good strictness, for these perfomances. We cannot do without playing our part, everyday.

The training of an actor or a director needs of a repertoire of instruments that allows them to deconstructand analyze in a very precise manner what the beholderwant to see on stage: human behavour.

I use this repertoire of instruments to develop the courses I purpose. To them beyond the effectiveness for the given aims, it’s to add amusement and surprise, as motivating factor for the group.

My approach to thatre is mainly corporal. Aware that only a part of the things we communicate pass throught the words, during my courses I put the accent moreover on how we behave than what we say.

Theatre take critical situations such as the ones we live everyday and put them in a different frame, amplifing its flow, tragic or comic due to dramaturgical choices and bring them on stage.

Stanislavskji, at the beginning of the last century, definied exercises useful for the actor to make more natural the on-stage conflicts. During the years his tecnique has been upgraded. I use exercises coming from this current to analyze conflict, decompose it and make the people aware of the mechanisms that are activated in these moments.
